About Me

Dj Raíz had his first contact with the pick ups when he has 16 years old. Learned the first steps in workshops on Social Programs.

Started his career at 18 years old, playing as free-lance with RAP groups such as DHB - Abeú, Chenzira, Tiro Certo and Atitude Diferenciada, and playing in clubs and private parties in Salvador.

Participated as a volunteer with the NGO Rever in Lauro de Freitas, transmitting a bit of his knowledge as a selector/DJ for needy youngsters in the local community.

In 2006 became part of the Ministereo Publico, the first sound system in Bahia based in Jamaican Sounds Systems, formed by a group of musicians, DJ's, urban artists and cultural producers where intensified his search in Reggae, specializing in Dance Hall.

In 2008, along with friends musicians began the Dubstereo Band, inspired by Jamaican and Brazillian music, featuring the cells of reggae's rhythmic .

Also in 2008 attending an invitation from the singer, composer and musician Soraia Drummond became part of Dubelétrica - A thrilling fusion of various African, Brazilian and Jamaican rhythms. This musical and visceral union between a vibrant voice, thrilling pick ups, organic instruments and effects processors results in a pulsating sound as a sound system.

Raíz has as main influences from Brazilian, African, Jamaican and Caribbean music. His repertoire is filled by styles like samba, MPB, Funk Soul, RAP, Afrobeat, kuduro, Roots Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Soca and Lambada.


He also worked in the album by Zé Paulo - Feijão com Arroz track and in the album Salvador Negro Amor - Brilho e Beleza track by Ninha (Trem De Pouso) and Margareth Menezes.
