About Me
Born in Salvador-Bahia-Brazil, was discovered by Jamaica 's international manager and tour coordinator Copeland Forbes at a Gregory Isaacs's concert in Salvador at July 07, 2007. Forbes invited her to Jamaica for the fifteenth staging of Jamaica's premier Reggae festival Reggae Sumfest and introduced her to Jamaica's ace saxophonist and producer Dean Fraser who was very impressed with her musicianship. Fraser took her to Grafton Studios and she wrote and re-recorded Tarrus Riley's hit She's Royal in Portuguese, hence it's called Nao Saia. She's now working on her first CD titled Songs About You, working with some of Jamaica's top producers including Sly & Robbie, Dean Fraser, Computer Paul, Earl “Chinna” Smith and Leebert “Gibby” Morrison because they was very impressed with her musicianship. Also she is working with the biggers Dub's producer Mad Professor. Currently Soraia Drummond is working with the selector, arranger and producer DJ Raiz, specializes in music and black culture. Together they form the "Dub electric" and present the show "To the living, because the dead do not dance," a thrilling fusion of various African, Brazilian and Jamaican rhythms. The show is based on the sound system culture, the selector DJ Raiz on the pick ups and effects and Soraia Drummond on voice and various instruments, both in a line so intense that sometimes is impossible to know who does what, making an incredible spectacle.
___________________________________
