HELLRAIZA
Born and raised in the ghettos of Kingston, Jamaica, HellRaiza is the real deal! Christened Mark Jones, at age thirteen he decided that entertainment was the way to go. Being influenced by the foundation rulers of dance hall such as Papa San, Wolf Man, Lt Stitchie and Shabba Ranks, HellRaiza was sure he wanted to become a Dancehall/Reggae icon. He was educated at Maxfield Park Primary and Norman Manley Secondary Schools in the violent Kingston Thirteen section of Jamaica. His father was a strong political activist and an area leader within this violence prone area who organized various youth activities in an attempt to provide an alternative to a criminal lifestyle that was readily available to the youths of this violent inner city community within Kingston Thirteen. Hence Hellraiza learnt the art of leadership from his father at a young age- a skill that would serve him well. Violence was a constant reality to the young HellRaiza, it is no surprise that his music, in many ways, is loaded with excerpts of his hardcore upbringing. Following the unforgettable mass murders and countless bloodshed between rival political party supporters during the 1980's election, HellRaiza moved to Portmore to live with his mother. Portmore was a more stable and far less violent community in Jamaica. It was in Portmore that he perfected his art as an entertainer and was soon performing at all the local stage shows in the area. He had soon earned a reputation as an energetic performer who pranced all over the stage in a manner that was sometimes outrageously funny. Many people thought he was at least borderline crazy and as such they nicknamed him Mad Max. HellRaiza has come a long way since those community shows in Portmore. He has performed on numerous stage shows both in Jamaica and overseas. He has performed alongside some of the greatest stage performers dancehall/reggae have seen -greats such as Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, Lady Saw, and Junior Demus, to name just a few. Presently he is working with R&B (Focus of Aftermath Records), as well as reggae/dancehall producers both in the U.S. and in Jamaica, and has compiled an attractive slew of potential hit songs. HellRaiza's style is hard-hitting and unapologetic. His lyrics are far from just rhymes, they are well crafted and very easy to identify with. He speaks of the reality of the streets and about his personal experiences. In almost all his songs he exposes his personal thoughts. His attitude and direct approach resembles those of rapper Fifty Cent whom he sees as one of the best to have done it! HellRaiza has the goods to deliver and is bound to create a major buzz on the music scene.
